SMP For Baldness

Do you have cosmetically disruptive bald spots as a result of hereditary / genetic baldness, stress or dermatological conditions, such as alopecia areata, alopecia totalis, alopecia universalis, or scars caused by hair transplants? For this, a cosmetic tattoo technique has been developed to tackle annoying scalp and hair conditions. More commonly known as Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) this technique uses specialized techniques with cosmetic tattoo equipment and special pigments to mimic a hair stubble pattern on the scalp.

Also for many men and women for whom a hair transplant is not an option, Scalp Micropigmentation of the scalp offers the solution. The tattoo-based, non-medical “cover” that effectively hides distracting areas on the scalp and creates the illusion of fuller hair.

How long will SMP remain visible?

In principle, SMP is permanent and therefore always remains visible. Due to the natural skin renewal and influences of UV light, the dots fade over the years. By having a touch up done every 1-4 years, it always looks natural.

How many treatments do I need?

SMP treatments are performed in 4 to 6 sessions. The density of the tattooed micro dots is best built up in multiple treatments. This way you can slowly get used to your new look until it is perfected in the last session.

The camouflage of scars, for example after a FUT or FUE hair transplant, is usually completed in 3 to 4 treatments.

Does it hurt?

Everyone experiences the treatment differently. Many fall asleep during the treatment and in between we have a nice chat.

I have also heard different experiences: almost numb, itchy, sensitive, irritating and locally also painful. Every spot on the head feels different, so one spot may be numb and the other painful. To take the sharp edges off, I recommend taking paracetamol just before the appointment.

How long does a treatment take?

Depending on the size of the area to be treated, the treatment lasts 1 to 6 hours per session.

Can I shave my head after the treatment?

After the treatment you will receive the aftercare instructions from me, for optimal results it is important to follow these. Once your SMP has healed, you can shave with clippers. I do not recommend wet shaving with a razor, with every shave you also remove a small layer of skin, comparable to scrubbing or a peeling, your SMP will fade much faster.

The best equipment and pigments

For this treatment I work with the latest equipment, best needles and pigments. The end result is determined by my knowledge and my hand movements, which ultimately determines the result of the dots.
